Light as Air

I'm so happy about the response (number of views) my entry "Make a Way For Us" has gotten! Indeed, I've even gotten sweet vindication on Facebook:) It's a touching reminder of how much it means to the Disabled to have the Able go out of their way to include them. Below is a picture of just such an effort made to "make a way"--by letting people who find sand problematic--the wheelchair-bound, people with trouble walking on uneven surfaces (ahem), maybe just those with weakness in the legs, like the elderly. And it's especially gratifying to me to see that these efforts have made it "across the pond" to Europe. While they've been in the States for several years, it's nice to know that in Europe, where the Ableism seems to be just a shade more severe, they're starting to "wake up" and take steps to include everyone in the joys of summer.

Possibilities

Wow! So it's been a week since I posted! I guess sometimes my Facebook posts feel like I've shared enough of myself, leaving very little room for blog sharing:( So what can I say? Christmas is here! Well just about. I'm bound for home in a couple of days--just two! I still haven't packed! But I've been writing a list of things I don't want to forget to bring, for a week or two now. As of this moment I'm looking forward to the morning; it's mine and my fiance's "Christmas" from the year we were together. He loved the solstice, and I was too in love with him to mind that it wasn't "THE DAY." Too Anxious

Good Morning, Lovelies! Feeling very anxious today:( Just personal insecurities and worries about the future--amorphous, baseless, and with nowhere to rest:( I can't make myself "put it down." Anxiety rates around the country are extremely high, after all. And it makes me feel a little better to know I'm not alone. Indeed, with Quarantine/Lockdown forcing us all to distance ourselves and avoid each other and BE alone--any connection at all is a comfort. Adding fuel to my anxious fire this morning is that I found out I can't proceed with a pet adoption I'd been committed to since last week. So much for reducing my anxiety with a little fur ball:) I'll have to find some other way. I haven't entirely given up. As a result though, of course, my energy is drained. All my optimism has fizzled right out, and I'm just about ready to crawl back into bed. But of course I can't do that; there are still things I've been planning to do today. So...

For All to See

Everyone should see this. The double stall is not for the comfort of able-bodied individuals without a mobility aid. The double stall is a public facility's bare minimum compliance with the ADA requirements mandated in 1990. That is how many centuries we have had to deal with a world that never acknowledged our presence before .
